NJA worked with the City of Lodi to create a vision for the revitalization of brownfield sites throughout the community, transforming eyesores into magnets for innovation and investment. Each site promoted by the City represented a unique opportunity for potential uses. By sustainably infilling urban sites, the City aimed to increase density, weaving a tighter urban fabric while creating hubs for education and investment. Whether marked as an agricultural campus to educate the entire region, or a medical research facility planned to grow and respond to evolving community needs, the City’s interest in capitalizing on existing vacant infill lots, rather than outward expansion serves to preserve green space and agricultural production, while limiting the expansion of utility and transportation services for the area.
