Set along the Mokelumne River, the new facility for Jeremy Winery looks to create a high hospitality experience that blends wine and the beautiful features of the natural landscape.
The approach to the facility frames a feature wall "J" and provides a backdrop the to an enclosed main entrance. Once inside, visitors will be drawn to the view of the Mokelumne River and openness to the landscape where they will then be escorted to a private seated tasting experience.
The entire wood and steel structure is exposed adding warmth, dimension, and a refined rustic character to the inside. The exterior features a burnt cedar wood exterior using a process call shou sugi ban that acts a weatherproof and termite resistant barrier protecting the wood from continued maintenance and extends the lifespan of the wood. The wood is burned until the surface is charred, and then coated with natural oil. The result is a scorched finish with a magnificent charcoal black color.
